Not all National Days are remembered in the same way.
At least we are different in some ways. Our friends saw the WhatsApp message
initiated by Mrs Choy (Kuan Mei Kuen) one week before August 7, 2019. Some
wondered why their names were not included in the list of participants. Many
responded spontaneously by adding their names in the list and made it longer
anyway.
Here they came on the actual day. They walked into the
unfamiliar Food Street near the Bugis MRT Station. Nobody lost their way
because they knew that their friends would laugh at them if they could not find
the place.
Happily seated in the almost empty Food Street after
2:00 pm they exchanged greetings with their friends. Why they still looked the
same after a hiatus of Umpteen years. They could not stop laughing and talking
very loudly. Tommy Tan Kah Seong bought some drinks while others found their
favorite food there. Someone bought two big plates of fruits for the gathering. Margaret Tan bought some “xiao long bao” to add flavors to
the gathering to celebrate friendship in a small way for a cheerful
pre-National Day there. The joy and fun was with the chats in a cool
environment. Happiness was already in full action there. Happy Nostalgia.
